KOBOLD NEK Series compact conductive level switches provide reliable and affordable level monitoring of conductive liquids in tanks. With their rugged construction and solid-state, no-moving-parts design, they’re especially well-suited for applications involving dirty, low-viscosity, or aggressive media.

How the KOBOLD NEK level switch works

The NEK applies a low AC voltage to its pair of 316-Ti stainless steel electrodes. The presence of sufficiently conductive liquid (≥100 µS/cm) creates a small current flow between the two electrodes, activating the switch. The unit requires 18 to 29 VDC power for operation.

Options for switching output and immersion length

NEK Series level switches are available with your choice of PNP (sourcing) or NPN (sinking) open collector or SPDT relay output. The open collector is normally open (N/O), with a 32 VDC/100mA maximum, and short-circuit protected. The SPDT relay is 1A at 30 VDC maximum. In addition, you have the option of 1-1/2 or 3 inch immersion lengths to best suit your level-monitoring application.

The conductive level switches type NEK reliably monitor the limit level of conductive media, even under heavy process conditions.

Whether used for run-dry protection in pumps or monitoring chemical processes, the conductive level switches type NEK meet demands for efficient and cost-effective measurement technology completely. They react quickly and ensure a high process safety. Due to the compact and space-saving design, the robust measurement devices can be integrated perfectly in industrial processes.

The devices are designed as compact models, which can be screwed into tanks. The housing with the process connection is provided with a hexagon and a male thread for installation. The devices can be delivered made of PPS or PP. Two electrodes made of stainless steel extend into the process. As soon as both come into contact with a conductive liquid, the electronics detects it and outputs a corresponding switch signal.

Two installation lengths, 36 and 73 mm, can be selected. The installation depth can be adapted individually by means of an additional protection tube. Installation of the device is possible from the top or from the side. The protection class is IP 68. Devices made of PPS tolerate pressures of up to 20 bar, models made of polypropylene tolerate 6 bar.
